Marketplace-specific review targeting

Geo Bounties introduces marketplace-specific review targeting to give both authors and readers more control over their BookBounty experience.

What Are Geo Bounties?

Geo Bounties allow you to create review requests that target specific Amazon marketplaces (like Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de, etc.) rather than accepting reviews from any marketplace. This means you can now tailor your bounty campaigns to reach readers in specific regions and languages.

The key difference: Instead of creating one bounty that accepts reviews from anywhere, with Book Bounty, you can create bounties that only accept reviews from hunters shopping on specific Amazon marketplaces.

What This Means for Publishers (Authors)

New Targeting Options

  • Marketplace Selection: Choose which Amazon marketplace(s) your bounty targets

  • Language Filtering: Specify what language your book is written in

  • Regional Focus: Connect with readers in specific countries or regions

  • Flexible Campaigns: Create separate bounties for different marketplaces or combine multiple marketplaces in one bounty

Better Campaign Control

Each bounty still equals one review request, but now you have more precision:

  • Create a bounty specifically for Amazon.com readers

  • Set up another bounty targeting Amazon.co.uk customers

  • Or create one bounty that accepts reviews from multiple marketplaces of your choice

Improved Tracking

Your bounty history now shows which marketplace each review was posted to, giving you better insights into your campaign performance across different regions.

What This Means for Readers (Hunters)

Personalized Library Experience

  • Default Marketplace: Set your preferred Amazon marketplace to see relevant bounties first

  • Language Filters: Find books in your preferred language more easily

  • Regional Relevance: See bounties for books available in your local Amazon marketplace

  • Cleaner Interface: New left-side navigation makes browsing smoother

Better Book Discovery

The updated library layout includes marketplace icons on each bounty, so you'll immediately know which Amazon marketplace the bounty targets before you select it.

Why Existing Users Need to Update Their Books

Your existing books and bounties continue to work exactly as before Geo Bounties, nothing breaks or changes automatically. However, to take advantage of Geo Bounties' features, you'll need to update your book information.

Required Updates

Books that haven't been updated will show a "more information needed" notification. To enable Geo Bounties for your books, you need to add:

  1. ASIN Numbers: Instead of full Amazon URLs, simply provide your book's ASIN for:

    • Your ebook version

    • Your paperback version (if applicable)

  2. Language Setting: Specify what language your book is written in

Why These Updates Matter

  • ASINs allow the system to properly identify your book across different Amazon marketplaces

  • Language settings help readers find books in their preferred language

  • Marketplace compatibility ensures your bounties only appear to hunters who can actually purchase and review your book

The Update Process

  1. Go to your "My Books" area

  2. Click on your book cover, then "Edit"

  3. Add your ASIN numbers (found in your book's Amazon URL)

  4. Set your book's language

  5. Submit for approval

Note: Book re-approvals may take longer than the usual 24 hours as many users update their books simultaneously.

Backward Compatibility

Important: You can still create non-specific bounties that work exactly like the old system—accepting reviews from any marketplace, anywhere. Geo Bounties are an additional option, not a replacement for the existing system.

If you choose not to update your books right away:

  • Your current bounties continue working normally

  • You can still create new bounties using the traditional non-specific approach

  • No existing functionality is lost or changed

Pro Tips

  • International Authors: Ensure your KDP pricing is set correctly for target regions so your bounty price aligns with the actual Amazon price in that country

  • Multiple Markets: You can create separate bounties for different marketplaces or combine multiple marketplaces in one bounty

  • Flexibility: Remember, you can still create traditional non-specific bounties alongside your geo-targeted ones
