We know that losing points is a bummer—and trust us, it’s not something we love doing. But to keep things fair for everyone.
That said, mistakes happen! If you think we've made an error with your points, don't panic—we’re here to help. Just reach out, and if there's been a mix-up, we'll happily return any points that were deducted in error. 💌
Now, let’s talk about some of the main reasons Bounty Points might get reduced and how we handle it:
1️⃣ The Bounty Expired ⏰
If a Bounty isn’t turned in by the due date, it expires.
We’ll send you a friendly email reminder as the due date approaches, but if the Bounty still isn’t completed, it will go back into the Library for another Hunter to pick up. The points you spent on that Bounty will be returned to your account.
Pro Tip: Sometimes life happens, and we lose track of our dates. If you're quick enough, you could get your points back by quickly going back to the Bounty Library, find the Bounty, and choose it again. 🚀
2️⃣ The Bounty Wasn’t Completed as Requested 🤔
Publishers spend extra Bounty Points for a Verified Purchase review. It's expected that the golden "Verified Purchase" badge will be included in the review on Amazon, and we totally get that!
If the review on Amazon is missing the "Verified Purchase" tag, we will have to reduce the extra points from the Bounty Hunter reviewer and return those points to the Bounty Hunter publisher because they did not get 100% of what they spent their points for.
Another common scenario that causes a missing "Verified Purchase" tag is if the book was on Free Promotion days and the Bounty Hunter reviewer accidentally used the Kindle Unlimited button to get the book rather than using the "Buy no with 1-click" button.
Either way, we’ll notify the reviewer and adjust the points accordingly to make things right.
3️⃣ The Review Didn’t Appear on Amazon 🕵️
Sometimes Amazon takes its sweet time to post reviews—it can take anywhere from 1 to 8+ days. We’ll notify the reviewer a few days after the Bounty is turned in if the Bounty can't be completed and we need help finding the review. If we still can't complete the Bounty after we've reached out to the Bounty Hunter, we'll unfortunately have to take back Bounty Points from the reader to refund them back to the publisher.
Pro Tip: If you believe we made a mistake, please reply back to the email where you were notified the points had been adjusted and either send us the URL of your review on Amazon and we'll be happy to get you those points back.
But Wait—There’s Good News for the publisher!
Even if the review doesn’t show up on Amazon, review Book Bounty captured for you is still available! You can use our handy Button that generates the HTML of the review that can be pasted into an Editorial Review for your book’s product page.
