Being a self-publisher myself, I understand how useful KDP Free Promotion days can be for book launches. However; Amazon has changed a lot recently and we've noticed Amazon has become more strict with Free Promotion days. We’re always working to stay aligned with Amazon’s latest updates so we can continue supporting your success. Free Promotion bounties can move very quickly, and when using book clubs like Book Bounty, just about every sale can result with a review. We're concerned this can create an imbalance a book might receive between the traffic a book gets and receives and doesn't receive a sale, vs. sales and no reviews, vs. sales always receiving reviews in a way that Amazon’s new bots could consider unnatural, especially if it happens too much, too quickly. So, to be on the side of caution, we have paused the Free Promotion bounties while we evaluate how to safely proceed with this bounty type. It's important to remember that Amazon is vigilant about tracking enormous amounts of data just to be able to sell more. And they have been improving and updating their analysis AI and tools. Their bots are always on the lookout for unnatural behavior by a reader and product activity. So you should ALWAYS being reading and reviewing honestly.

You do not want to try to beat Amazon for speed and impatience, this is not the goal and Amazon will take action. Keeping your reviewing account healthy and in good standing with Amazon is always important. Amazon watches everyone's overall account activity, history and patterns, including what you purchase, what you read, how often you review, and how quickly reviews are submitted. Their systems are designed to recognize natural, and unnatural consumer behavior. You do not want them to flag your account as having unnatural behavior.

The best approach is to use your account the same way you normally would like any consumer. If Amazon thinks your account is made just for reviewing they will take action. Most customers purchase a variety of products, not just books, and leave reviews based on their genuine experiences. It's important that you're making purchases. Mixing in other products other than books and reviews across different types of products helps your account reflect normal customer activity.

It’s also important to read and review at a natural pace. Larger books naturally take more time to read, while shorter books can be completed more quickly. Choosing books that fit your normal reading habits and reviewing them when you’re ready helps maintain a healthy and realistic pattern. Amazon will take notice if you're reviewing more books than you can naturally read in a reasonable time period. There is no need to rush, enjoy the books you choose and review with honesty.

Verified purchases reviews are the best and safest because Amazon trusts reviews that comes with a purchase, as this is part of typical shopping behavior. You buy a product, spend time with the product and then review the product a few days after enjoying the product. The larger the purchase amount, the more trusted the review. You do not want to review a product as soon as you get it, this would not be normal purchasing, reading and reviewing behavior. While Kindle Unlimited reviews are good too, they are still not as great as a verified purchase review. You do want to be careful to not do so many Kindle Unlimited reviews being posted by you than your verified purchase review. Sometimes it's not a bad idea to just get a book, read and enjoy it and not review it. Accounts that include a mix of purchases, reading, and thoughtful reviews at a reasonable rate of speed tend to reflect an authentic consumer activity.

However; a book that has been alive for a while that hasn't grown much all of a sudden starts getting traffic and reviews at a fast pace where it used to not get much could look suspicious to their bots. A healthy mix of traffic, purchased books, Verified Purchase reviews, Kindle Unlimited reads, and organic discovery over time all working together is the best way to build trust. You don't want things to look unnatural like getting purchases for your paperback book but all or most reviews only show up by only Kindle Unlimited. There needs to be a good balance and it's always good to have more purchased reviews over any other.

The good news is that there are many great ways to support this natural growth and should be part of your marketing strategy for any product you're trying to sell. It's best to diversify your marketing by running Amazon ads, sharing your product on social media platforms, mentioning it in your newsletters, book clubs, and spreading the word to your audience all help bring in readers from different places. If you have an ebook, it's a good ideal to not only create one bounty type if you have the options to offer more than one type. As an example, you might consider not just creating only Kindle Unlimited bounties. Consider creating verified purchase bounties too so you're getting balance. Having more verified purchase than Kindle Unlimited is a great idea since Amazon likes verified purchases more. This helps creates a strong, well-rounded history that helps your book thrive.
